#The100dayproject : Half way through

Hello everyone!!!
Let me start by apologizing for being MIA again from my blog for such a log time. But even though I have been absent from here, I have been actively participating on my Instagram feed. Since April I participated in "The 100 Day Project". It started on 3rd April & ended on 11th July.

I tried to complete it, but could only reach half-way point by the deadline.  Although I have decided to complete the entire 100 days as and when possible.

Today I will post the initial 50 projects here for you to view together.  Let's have a look.

I hope you all liked it. I would love to hear back from you all. Thank you very much for taking your time to notice it. Hope to hear again from all of  u soon. Till then take care. :)

PS: If my posts inspire you to create something on similar lines, I feel highly flattered. But please, do respect the effort I take in conceptualizing and executing, please give a direct link to my work when you are inspired by mine. Thanks for understanding :-)

Shop Your Scraps - Striped Backgrounds

Hello Everyone!!!

Last week while organizing my card-stock and patterned papers, I realized that over the past few years I have accumulated a lot of paper scraps. I have always thought about throwing them away, but I can't come to do that. So I have decided to make cards just using those scraps.

While I was at it, I felt that it would be a good idea to share the process of creating those card ideas with you, thus I will be showcasing a new card idea using just scraps on my blog every month. How is that???

So let see this month's cards.

Technique: The technique is really very simple. I have created a short video to explain the process. I hope that helps.

Technique of the Month - Textured colored backgrounds

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my blog!
I am back with "Technique of the Month" for June 2017.  I missed a couple of months but I am back on track now. This month's technique is "Textured colored backgrounds".

I am a huge fan of adding any kind of texture to my cards. It could either be on the background using embossing folders, embossing paste or it could be using embellishments. I can never make just plain and simple one layered cards.

So before we dive into the technique, let's have a look at today's card first, shall we...

Close-up of the texture

Technique: The technique is really very simple. I have created a short video to explain the process. I hope that helps.

So here is a small description how I created this card:
  • Die-cut 2 circles from the background panel created using We R Memory Keepers - Nesting circle dies
  • On an A2 car base, adhered the smaller circle die-cut using glue.
  • Then adhered the larger circle die-cut to the card base using foam tape
  • Stamped the happy birthday sentiment from the Concord & 9th Happy Day set using Versamark ink and heat embossed using Ranger embossing powder.
  • Cut out an additional 1/4" strip from the background panel and attached it to one side of the card base using glue.
  • Attached a few embellishments around the sentiment to finish the card.
  • I also stamped a few coordinating sentiments inside the card (can be seen in video).
  • Finally sponged the envelope flap to match the colors on the card using Memento dye inks.

Happy Little Stampers - March Anything Goes with Die Challenge

Hello Everyone!!!

From this month I will also be a part of Happy Little Stamper's - Anything Goes with Dies Challenge. As  the name suggests, you are welcome to submit any card with some kind of die usage in it.

The challenge is sponsored by :

https://shop.happylittlestampers.com/

Let's take a look at my card now.

As you all know, I have been on an "Ink Smooshing" frenzy recently, I have used the same technique for this card too. See my previous cards here and here showing the same technique.

Instructions:
  • So I started it with watercolor card panel & Dr. Ph. Martin's Hydrus watercolors
  • Using acetate sheet, Distress water sprayer, I created ink puddles and then placed them on the watercolor panel only on the left bottom corner.
  • Taking the acetate sheet to the paper give you a bit of control as to where you want to place your color. I did not want to color the whole panel.
  • After I had the ink pattern created to my satisfaction, I die cut the Poppy from white card-stock and adhered it to the panel on the colored background.
  • Finally I stamped the sentiment and embellished using some Dew drops.

Technique of the Month - Ink Smooshing

Hello Everyone!!!
In 2017 while setting my Crafting goals, I decided to challenge myself and so I settled on the thought that each month I will come up with a card using a technique. I will try to demonstrate the technique and create a card using the technique. So today marks my 1st installment for the same.

From my previous blog post and my Instagram posts you must have realized that I have become a great fan of "Ink Smooshing tehcnique", I guess which is introduced to all of us by Laura Bassen. There are a lot of tutorials available on Youtube and various forums about this technique.  It can be recreated using any kind of watercolors available at your disposal. I tend to get best results using either Tim Holtz Distress inks, Dyan Reavley's Dylusions ink sprays, Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens or Dr. Ph Martin's liquid watercolors.

I have created a card using the same technique . Let's look at the card first .

.

Technique: The technique is really very simple. You need to remember to select colors that blend in well with one another so that you don't create a muddy mess. I had posted a short video on my Instagram feed showing the technique. You can view it here:

Doing a little ink smooshing today #zigcleancolorrealbrushpens #inksmooshing by @parabn17

Card: For this card I started off by stamping the image first in black ink on watercolor card stock.  The I have used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pen to create the background. Once the background dried up, I added a few silver splatters  on the background using Fintec Mica palette. Then  I stamped the sentiment and adhered the card panel to purple card base using glue. Finally added a squins and finished the card.
