Warli Painting - First Attempt

Hello Everyone!!!
The other day I was going over some Indian artist articles on Pinterest and I came across Warli Painting. Warli Painting is a tribal art mostly done by Adivasi from North Sahyadri Range in India. I quickly remembered the Warli print bed sheets mom had for our bed back home. One thing led to another and an hour later after lots og Googled image references and watching 2-3 Youtube videos about Warli,  I was at my desk painting a canvas brown prepping for doing a Warli painting of my own.

I painted a 8x10 size canvas in brown acrylic paint , let it dry, did a basic sketch of the scene I wanted and started off with white acrylic paint. Half way through I realized that I was making small mistakes as this was my 1st attempt. The OCD  inside me did not let me make a lot of mess and so I decided that I needed some practice before I worked on a canvas. I had a perfect base to work on. Few days back at a Micheal's sale, I had picked up the Canson 5.5x8.5  XL series Acrylic paper book (136 lb). Its heavier and sturdier than the canvas. So I got a little carried away and painted a few pages of it in various dark acrylic colors like brown, black, dark green, navy blue , voilet etc. I'm going to use it as a practice.

I did my 1st page yesterday night. Here it is for you to see

One thing to note here is that the background is an acrylic color but the white figures are done using a white Sakura Jelly Roll gel pen. It took me 2 hours to complete this entire scene. I hope to improve even more.

Did you all like it? I would love to hear back from you all. Thank you very much for taking your time to notice it. Hope to hear again from all of  u soon. Till then take care. :)

Digital Doodles

Hello Everyone!

I know that it has been really a very long time since my last post. But lots has changed. As I mentioned in my previous post, this year started with new opportunities career wise, so I got a little busy settling in & adjusting. I gave in a little bit of time each weekend , but did not get time to share with you all.

Today I have a few goodies for you. For a long time I have been thinking about buying a tablet computer or one of those Wacom tablet, but I was not sure which one to buy. Recently I got a chance to play with a Fujitsu laptop which had touch screen & handwriting and drawing capabilities. So I had to doodle a bit on it. Its my friend's laptop, so I spend ample amount of time testing & playing with Gimp on it. I'm proud to present my creations with you all.

I tried different brush sizes & had a lot of fun. I think I may buy one of those tablets in near future. These images here are for free use to anyone. Please to link back to my blog if you use it in any projects.

Tangled Landscape

Hello Everyone!!!
Hope you all are doing great!

I think in this new year I'm going to get of my incomplete work done. Lots of new things are happening in life. Also in terms of my artwork I have completed a few of my incomplete projects from last year. Today I have one such project to show you.

I saw an image on Pinterest & I liked it so I pinned it. Later I went to my Pinterest board for inspiration & used it to inspire me to create the one below. I jsut was curious to see how the tangle would appear if I colored them.
