Technique of the Month - Textured colored backgrounds

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my blog!
I am back with "Technique of the Month" for June 2017.  I missed a couple of months but I am back on track now. This month's technique is "Textured colored backgrounds".

I am a huge fan of adding any kind of texture to my cards. It could either be on the background using embossing folders, embossing paste or it could be using embellishments. I can never make just plain and simple one layered cards.

So before we dive into the technique, let's have a look at today's card first, shall we...

Technique: The technique is really very simple. I have created a short video to explain the process. I hope that helps.

So here is a small description how I created this card:
  • Die-cut 2 circles from the background panel created using We R Memory Keepers - Nesting circle dies
  • On an A2 car base, adhered the smaller circle die-cut using glue.
  • Then adhered the larger circle die-cut to the card base using foam tape
  • Stamped the happy birthday sentiment from the Concord & 9th Happy Day set using Versamark ink and heat embossed using Ranger embossing powder.
  • Cut out an additional 1/4" strip from the background panel and attached it to one side of the card base using glue.
  • Attached a few embellishments around the sentiment to finish the card.
  • I also stamped a few coordinating sentiments inside the card (can be seen in video).
  • Finally sponged the envelope flap to match the colors on the card using Memento dye inks.

For You..

Hello Everyone!!!
As you all know due to personal reasons my crafting mojo was MIA for past couple of months. So I was going through the various challenge blog to get it back and that's when I came across Simon Says Stamp's - Monday Challenge - it said "Touchy Feely". I got right up, went to the craft desk and got working.

So today I am here with a bright and colorful summer themed card for all of you. Lets have a look at the card first.

I always like working with embossing/modeling paste and stencils. This was the absolute correct moment to use them. So here is a small description how I created this card:
I really loved how all the colors mixed on the card panel so I am submitting this card to :

Life and Death

Hello Everyone!!!
I am really very sorry for such a prolonged absence without any notice. There is no better way to say it, because the news I am going to share isn't a happy one.

On 21st March 2017 my Father (Mr. Subhash Parab) passed away due to sudden heart attack. It was very shocking and heart breaking. I had to immediately leave for India to be with my mom and brother. I got the news at 11:30 p.m. and in the span of 8 hours I booked my tickets, packed suitcases, and was at the airport- to fly halfway across the world.

Once I reached India, things got so hot and hectic!!! So many people to meet, so much to do. People said so many nice things about him. Many rituals were performed. It was very weird to be there and not have his presence around… I was there for 2 months or so. All that time, we all were running around putting things in order after him.

I had been debating about coming out with this news on my blog, but my dad was a regular follower of my blog, he always emailed me his feedback about my art and so he has a special place here. This has been a very emotional and sad trip for me. My Father, wasn't so old, he was 59 years of age, and I knew he wouldn’t be around for ever, but it wasn't his chance to say a final goodbye to us yet… He was a great man.

Love You Baba!!!
